Got this question set from
julian . Wanna play? Ask for a set of questions, and I'll see what I can come up with. Or ask me another set here, and I'm likely to answer.
1) Where are you from originally? Do you have good memories of it?
Wisconsin. Most of the state is comfortable and safe; this includes the parts I grew up in. I was definitely a fan of the wide-ranging and generally unpredictable weather generated by being more or less at the intersection of three major air masses and half a dozen or so smaller components with a significant effect. All the same, there are lots of experiences that it's hard to get there, and I'm much happier now that I'm somewhere where these experiences are an expected part of one's life.
2) Do you have a favorite color? Is it one that looks good on you?
I have a particular fondness for the bright, fresh green of new vegetation. It doesn't look especially good on me; more muted greens work better, and ones with a bright yellow component are particularly bad.
3) What are your favorite and least favorite days of the week? What makes them so?
I can't really say I rank days by which day they are. For me, it's more about what I'm doing. For example, days with a bike ride in them are better than days without one. Days where I am in touch with my identity enough to confidenltly express it in public are better than days where I don't have that feeling. Days with mishaps in them are not as good as days that go well. And none of that has any weekly pattern that I can discern.
4) What's your recipe for a good relationship?
Keep listening. Keep talking. Be there when it's important to be there. Leave space for them to be themselves. Be honest -- even when it's hard or painful. Be on their side -- which absolutely includes engaging with them regarding dubious or destructive activities. But recognize that how they choose to respond is entirely up to them in the end, and don't expect them to change just because you said so. Doing these last two things well is a significant challenge for me.
5) What would your minor super-power be?
I'm reading this as "as opposed to a major super-power". I would describe it as "a sharply selective filter", in that I can focus in on something I'm looking for quickly, and with very little distraction. Say, for example, that I am transferring from one flight to another at an airport. As I exit the jetway, I can keep moving, note the general layout of the gates at the concourse I'm on, scan for a display board, do what I need to do to head in that direction, and pick up enough context from the surroundings to have an idea of where I might find other things I might be interested in. I've gotten the same feeling when looking for a piece of information, online or offline.

Date: 2022-11-24 09:52 am (UTC)Sure, I'll take a set of questions.
OK, here you go
Date: 2022-12-02 05:34 am (UTC)1. How, and how well, are you handling Texas politicians' relentless assault on anyone who isn't a straight white man? I'm thinking especially about their war on women's reproductive health and their sanitized "Texas History" that glorifies white Texans at the expense of the truth, and how that intersects with your identity as a queer Latina.
2. The coverage that made it out here regarding last winter's "great ice storm" made it sound much worse than it probably was. I had a similar experience with friends not from around here after the Loma Prieta earthquake. How were you hit by it? And how bad was it, really?
3. Your profile indicates that you are in a queerplatonic relationship with a gay man. How did you meet, and get to where you are now?
4. That dream job you got: what made it so special? Is it living up to your expectations?
5. How is life with the dogs? Anything they've done to make your life more "interesting" lately?
If any of these are more personal than you feel comfortable answering, please let me know, and I'll come up with a new one.

Date: 2022-11-26 01:13 pm (UTC)Sure!
Date: 2022-12-01 07:11 am (UTC)A number of my interests also show up on your interest list -- and also in your default icon. So:
1. Cats. We have one, down from three a few years ago. How many for you now? Who's the one in the icon? Any fun stories (they're cats. there must be some..)?
2. Classical music: Could you tell me a few of your favorite composers, and a favorite work by each?
3. Genderqueer/nonbinary: me too. When and how did you figure it out?
4. Knitting: also a favorite pastime of mine. What sorts of projects do you undertake? Any favorite yarn characteristics (color, composition, weight)?
5. Skiing: me too, though not much recently. Alpine or nordic? How often? Where?
Plus a bonus, if you'd care to -- not something I do, or would likely want to do, but I would like to hear from someone with more personal knowledge: shibari. How do you relate to it?
